NonProfit/Performance/Political
Why did we group our non-profit, performance and political and governmental work all together? It’s because all three require a little bit of wiggle room to help tell an important story creatively where there may be limited resources or time available.

Non-Profits
Creating compelling stories through video by partnering with Charles River Media can benefit non-profits in a number of ways. Videos can help raise awareness about a cause and attract new supporters and donors to their organization. They can also help to showcase the work that a non-profit is doing, highlighting the impact that they are making in the community. Additionally, these videos can be used to engage and educate the public about important issues, helping to inspire people to take action and make a difference - going back to our tagline Identify | Inform | Inspire. We’ve worked with many non-profit organizations over the years including the Boston Groundwater Trust, Daily Table, Save One Life, The Ceres Foundation, and the Concussion Legacy Foundation.
Performances/Theatrical
From world famous performance groups to thesis performances and religious musicals, Charles River Media has filmed it all. Many of us come from a creative arts background so we love the opportunity to work with groups to film multi-camera performances in a high end and engaging way.
Since 2009, Charles River Media has filmed the Hasty Pudding Man of the Year and Woman of the Year Roasts along with more than a dozen theatrical productions. Prior to that, we had our Harvard University performance recordings start with the filming of the famous Harvard-Radcliffe Gilbert and Sullivan Players as well as numerous thesis performances. Other groups we’ve worked with include the Cantata Singers, Tufts University Gospel Choir, the Longwood Symphony Orchestra, and Poets Theatre among many others.
CRMi’s creative arts background:
Charles River Media founder Don Schechter has a Masters in Arts and Music and in 2002 was given the opportunity to work for director Michael Apted and film The Rolling Stones in concert around the Boston area for the documentary Four Flicks. Since then, he has produced and directed many films, music videos, events and projects. LXD founder Dr. Rachel Schechter has a Masters degree in Arts in Education from Harvard University (and a PhD in Child Development from Tufts University). As a student she interned at Dora the Explorer. The CRMi Band: Ian on bass, Morgan on bassoon, Mike on drums, Don on theremin and flute, Dr. Rachel on viola, and Jon on trombone and drums.
Political and Government
Working on political campaigns and for governmental organizations is a passion of ours. On the political front, our work has spanned the country - from post-production for Senator Patty Murray’s campaign in Washington State to production for former Boston mayor Thomas Menino, and the senate campaigns of John Muresianu and Alan Khazei. We’ve worked directly with campaigns as well as with political agencies including Mullen & Co and Dixon Davis Media. Governmental organizations and agencies include the offices of Massachusetts State Attorney General, former Congressman William Delahunt, and former Congressman Barney Frank. We’ve worked with the Massachusetts School Building Authority, the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, and produced videos for Abt Associates in partnership with the The United States Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Defense.
